Lappland

Swedish Lappland is maybe the last true wilderness in Europe.

Its size is bigger than most countries in the world and has the smallest population per square kilometer in Europe. There is thousands of lakes to discover and even more streams. There are still waters that no one has fished yet.

Since summer 2020, we have made expeditions to arctic Lappland with the goal to find pikes.

The expedition went above the expectations and we landed hundreds of pike every week. Average over 80cm and 100cm+ became a daily choir.

The season starts early as June, just after the icebreak. The fishing for grayling is restricted the first weeks due to spawning but the fishing for pike is very rewarding in shallow coves and beaches.

In June the water is still cold and the weather very unpredictible. Snow, wind and rain can come any second behind the mountains. But it is without doubt the best period for pike that has not seen any fisherman for almost a year. They are not shy and strike on anything. Topwater in shallow areas are maybe our favorit way of catching this monsters.

July and August are warmer but also the time when everything comes to life. Especially the mosquito. You dont want to forget your repelent this time of year.

The fishing gets more active late afternoon and you can fish all night without seeing the sunset. Now is the perfect time to get your midnight pike.

Some areas are only accessible with helicopter. Our expedition wildcamp is first in Europe to have high comfort just meters away from maybe one of the worlds best pike fishing. Cabins and lodges are also available for those that seek comfort above fishing.

Fishing Opportunities
  • Pike: Lappland holds great numbers of pike. The average size of pike in lappland is big due to cannibalism of own species and also due to fish moving with migratory whitefish. If your goal is to catch a 100cm+ pike then this is where to go.

  • Grayling: The grayling is a very strong fish for its size. Sometimes difficult to catch and sometimes you get over 100 graylings without moving. A truly beautiful fish that can be over 50cm+.

  • Trout:  Trout is plenty in the lake system for the fisherman that is patient to wait for it to strike. There is a lot of competition with the grayling for the food so it makes it sometimes frustrating to get 50 graylings for every trout caught.

Essential Items to Carry
  • Fishing Gear: Pack appropriate fishing gear based on your preferred fishing methods and target species. This may include rods, reels, lines, flies, lures, and tackle boxes.

  • Clothing and Accessories: Dress in layers and bring weather-appropriate clothing, including waterproof outer layers, thermal wear, hats, gloves, and sturdy footwear for outdoor excursions. Waders and waterproof bag. Water bottle with filter.

  • Permits and Licenses: We will help you get correct licenses and permits for the correct water. No fishing or handling fish allowed without a license.

  • Personal Essentials: Bring personal essentials such as towels, insect repellent, sunglasses, sleeping bag and any necessary medications.

Accommodations
  • Wild camp: We can set up a tent camp with polycotton tents. This is the best way to experience Lappland. Here you have a woodstove heated tent, beds with matress, and a kitchen to cook for long days out. This option is the true Dreamcatcher experience.

  • Cabin: This option is simple and affordable. Simple accomidation where we cook, sleep and enjoy our time together. Great option when you fish close to civilisation but still far away from people.

  • Camping, lodge or Hotel: Depending on what species and budget you have. We will arrange accomidation that suits your budget and demands. Everything from a simple camping place to an full service lodge with amazing dinner and rooms with hot showers
